Adi Kurnia: Food Station Makes Breakthrough through Rice Export

Jakarta Council (DPRD) Commission B Member Adi Kurnia Setiadi appreciated the first rice export from PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya (FSTJ) to Saudi Arabia.

Food Station is very good in expanding the international market

He hoped that FSTJ's business expansion could improve the company's overall performance to increase the revenue and be able to provide higher dividends.

"Food Station is very good in expanding the international market. Hopefully, later it can be expanded to middle eastern or other countries," he mentioned, Monday (5/23).

PT FSTJ Eyes Middle East Rice Market

He assessed that Indonesia is an agrarian country and has triumphed in the field of self-sufficiency. While many other countries have different geographical and climatic conditions.

"I think this market opportunity is still wide open because not all countries are rice producers. Food Station can be more aggressive in expanding," he conveyed.

To support market expansion, he added, Food Station should be able to ensure a good supply and distribution chain to gain international market trust.

"First, it should be able to maintain good quality. Second, supply must be good. This can be done by increasing cooperation or farming contract with farmers or farmer groups in producing areas," he stated.

To maintain the quality of rice, the company was expected to directly provide guidance and monitor rice fields and crop management by farmers.

"If it is a good harvest, the farmers will be happy and Food Station will also have a positive impact. Farmers also need to be assisted in the application of modern agricultural technology to get optimal results," he explained.

According to him, one of the potential areas for cooperation was Padeglang, Banten.

"My parents are from Padeglang and I know exactly the superior rice quality like Cimanuk and Panimbang. I hope that in the future, Food Station can expand the cooperation with farmers or farmer groups in Pandeglang," he said.

Through this cooperation, the farmers in Padeglang were expected to be more prosperous. Because there are still many farmers who sell their crops to middlemen with a debt bondage (ijon) system.

"Farmers often suffer when the harvest season. Therefore, I aspire to build rice mills in Padeglang thus the farmers can be more prosperous and their harvests can be bought at good prices by Food Station," he expressed.
